Retreat Day 1: the percolator (downtown ep)
great way to start a retreat--a doppio and the pastoral epistles
"He who was mighty to save is mighty to keep..."
"...Provision is made in Him for all the trying, intricate, perilous circumstances in which the believer may be placed. Grace is laid up for the subjection of every inner corruption; an armor is provided for every assault of the foe; wisdom, strength, consolation, sympathy, kindness, and all else that a poor believing sinner can possibly require is richly stored in Jesus, the covenant Head of all the fullness of God to His people."

Our commercials making fun of eschatological views
This is mostly a shout out to my friend Neil who makes theological jokes.
A few weeks ago our class broke up and presented different eschatological views in creative ways. As part of our presentation we made fun of other views (even views we ourselves held!) by doing these fake commercials.
What you need to know in order to enjoy the commercials:
- Amillenialism is basically the belief that we are currently living in the good of Jesus "reign" (Rev 20) but it's a little pessimistic, thinking that things will probably get pretty bad before Jesus comes back
- Premillenialism is the belief that includes fun stuff like the rapture and the literal reign of Jesus.
- Aftertherapturepetcare.com is a real website

9 Reasons I Like The French Press (And You Should Too)
- French-pressed coffee tastes better (It just does)
- It's easy to adjust the taste of your coffee more exactly (by the amount of coffee you put in, and how long you wait before pressing the coffee)
- You can make loose-leaf tea with your french press
- They're a relatively cheap way to get great coffee
- Having a one-cup french press keeps me from absent-mindedly drinking five cups of coffee
- The time it takes to make a cup of coffee keeps me from compulsively making more coffee all the time
- Because of all this your coffee bag lasts longer
- Because your coffee lasts longer you can buy better coffee
- You can feel smug thinking about all people drinking drip coffee
Agree? Disagree?
How deep, how vast is the Father's love, that he'd give his son for us. Listen:
"How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That he would give his only son
To make a wretch his treasure"
Listening to this version of the song I'm freshly grateful for two things:
1) Truth that feels even more true every year you sing it
2) Creativity that helps us see old things in new ways
